Amy Chua’s “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother,” has caused a “cat fight” among American mothers. I’ve not read the book, but given how anxious American mothers are about parenting styles and choices, I’m sure the publishers knew they had a gold mine, especially one that so harshly critiques American middle class working moms.

Seems everyone wants to play the sociologist following the attempted murder of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. This semester I am taking a literature course. It is refreshing to be the student and not the professor. Wow, we knew the water would be high, in fact, I checked out Sugar Creek yesterday.  But a heavy rain overnight sent the river into a torrent. I never saw white water in Indian before.13.39 miles (from the put in above Narrows to the West Union covered bridge) in 2.5 hours.  That is about 5 miles per hour.  What a ride.
